Music must immediately convey sensually.
If I should make the effort to understand another human beeing, then I don’t need no artist – I may as well just turn to my neighbor; he is at least as interesting as any artist who wants to be understood. Besides, proper understanding is libidinous – it creates distance, not closeness. This wanting to be understood is merely the attempt to pull someone into one’s own misunderstanding, into one’s own life-lie. What one insinuates is always lied anyway! (I know that from myself). It also isn’t the least bit of fun to mess about with these things. The weak compositions, which obviously renounce sensuality and want to be understood, take up an intermediate position: They act as if they are facts, yet are only launched opinions, self-projections. They act rationally or intuitively or whatever. In any case, it is lying and has nothing whatsoever to do with music.
They are not playing music, they are playing musician!
